Fourth-Grader Trains for Girls on the Run 5K in Her Wheelchair


 

Ballwin, MO. – An elementary school student is getting ready to take on a big challenge – the Girls on the Run 5K in downtown St. Louis. Not only is she facing an uphill climb on Market Street and Olive Boulevard, but she’s inspiring others as she trains for the November 18 event.

The nonprofit Girls on the Run encourages and empowers young women through 10-week running program.

Mia Balella, a fourth-grader at Oak Brook Elementary School, is attempting to run the race in her wheelchair. She presents a new challenge for the organization.

Ballwin, MO. – Una estudiante de escuela primaria se está preparando para enfrentar un gran desafío: la carrera de Girls on the Run 5K en el centro de St. Louis. No solo enfrenta un ascenso cuesta arriba en Market Street y Olive Boulevard, sino que está inspirando a otros mientras se prepara para el evento del 18 de noviembre.

La organización sin fines de lucro Girls on the Run alienta y empodera a mujeres jóvenes a través de un programa de 10 semanas de duración.

Mia Balella, una alumna de cuarto grado de la escuela primaria Oak Brook, intentará correr la carrera en su silla de ruedas. Ella representa un nuevo desafío para la organización.
