Patriots players not interested in meeting with Trump

After winning the Super Bowl on Sunday, several of the New England Patriots players have already declared that they’re not interested in visiting the White House should President Donald Trump extend an invitation after their big win.

The Patriots won their sixth Super Bowl on Sunday, after beating the Los Angeles Rams 13-3 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. Following a championship win, the team is traditionally invited to celebrate with the president at the White House.

However, as Yahoo News reports, some players have already discarded that possibility.

Defensive back Devin McCourty told the Associated Press that he would not join the Patriots on the trip. His brother and teammate, Jason McCourty, had similar feelings.

“I haven’t thought about it, but I highly doubt it,” adding that there was “virtually zero chance he would go.”

Instead, some players expressed interest in meeting with former president Barack Obama, like the basketball team Golden State Warriors did in January.

“That would be dope,” said safety Duron Harmon.
