The legendary Big Boy 4014 locomotive will arrive in St. Louis on July 19

La histórica Big Boy No. 4014 de Union Pacific, considerada la locomotora de vapor en funcionamiento más grande del mundo, llegará al área de St. Louis como parte de una gira nacional para conmemorar el 250.º aniversario de Estados Unidos. Union Pacific's historic Big Boy No. 4014, considered the world's largest operating steam locomotive, will arrive in the St. Louis area as part of a national tour to commemorate America's 250th anniversary. The huge machine can be seen by the public on July 18 and 19.

Con 40.5 metros de longitud y un peso de aproximadamente 544 toneladas, la Big Boy fue construida en 1941 para transportar enormes cargas a través de las montañas de Wyoming. De las 25 locomotoras fabricadas originalmente, solo ocho sobreviven y únicamente la No. 4014 continúa operando, convirtiéndose en una auténtica pieza de historia ferroviaria en movimiento.

to carry huge loads across the mountains of Wyoming. Of the 25 locomotives originally manufactured, only eight survive and only No. 4014 continues to operate, becoming a true piece of moving railway history.

El tren partirá de Springfield, Illinois, el 18 de julio y realizará una breve parada en Girard, Illinois, antes de cruzar el puente MacArthur rumbo a St. Louis. Esa misma noche llegará a Union Station, donde permanecerá en exhibición para el público.

The train will depart Springfield, Illinois, on July 18 and make a brief stop in Girard, Illinois, before crossing the MacArthur Bridge to St. Louis. That same night it will arrive at Union Station, where it will remain on display for the public.

La locomotora estará abierta para visitas visuales el 19 de julio, de 9:00 a.m. a 3:00 p.m., en St. Louis Union Station. La entrada será gratuita y no será necesario obtener boletos. Although visitors will not be able to board the cab, they will be able to observe the gigantic locomotive up close as it remains lit with steam and listen to the characteristic whistle that the engineer will blow during the exhibition.
