More than 350 volunteers move books to Brentwood's new library
Más de 350 voluntarios se unieron el sábado 26 de septiembre para formar una cadena humana y trasladar libros desde la antigua Biblioteca de Brentwood hasta el nuevo edificio, ubicado a aproximadamente un tercio de milla sobre Brentwood Boulevard, en 2201 S. Brentwood Boulevard. La actividad convirtió el traslado de parte de la colección en un evento comunitario en el que participaron personas de distintas edades.
More than 350 volunteers came together on Saturday, Sept. 26, to form a human chain and
move books from the old Brentwood Library to the new building, located about a third of a mile on Brentwood Boulevard at 2201 S. Brentwood Boulevard. The activity turned the transfer of part of the collection into a community event involving people of different ages.
Durante la jornada, los voluntarios lograron mover alrededor de 300 libros hasta la nueva biblioteca. Entre los participantes estuvieron niños y adultos, quienes se pasaron los libros de persona a persona a lo largo de la cadena. Los otros 47,000 libros de la biblioteca serán trasladados posteriormente por profesionales especializados en mudanzas.
During the day, volunteers managed to move about 300 books to the new library. Among the participants were children and adults, who passed the books from person to person along the chain. The other 47,000 books in the library will be moved later by professionals specialized in moving.
La nueva Biblioteca de Brentwood tendrá aproximadamente 15,000 pies cuadrados, casi el
doble del espacio disponible en el edificio anterior. El nuevo espacio permitirá contar con más áreas para actividades comunitarias y programas dirigidos a familias y niños, de acuerdo con la información proporcionada sobre el proyecto.
The new Brentwood Library will have approximately 15,000 square feet, nearly double the space available in the previous building. The new space will allow for more areas for community activities and programs aimed at families and children, according to information provided about the project.
La nueva biblioteca está prevista para abrir al público a mediados de octubre. La jornada de voluntariado permitió a la comunidad participar directamente en la transición hacia el nuevo edificio, mientras los trabajadores profesionales se encargarán del traslado de la mayor parte de la colección.
The new library is scheduled to open to the public in mid-October. The volunteer day allowed the community to participate directly in the transition to the new building, while professional workers will be responsible for the transfer of most of the collection.
