Crecer también significa reconocer nuestro camino

Comenzamos septiembre con una edición que, de muchas maneras, nos invita a mirar alrededor y reconocer cuánto ha crecido nuestra comunidad, pero también a recordar que ese crecimiento no ocurre por casualidad. Detrás de cada organización, cada negocio, cada iniciativa y cada oportunidad existen personas que decidieron involucrarse, servir y abrir caminos para los demás.

Los Anthony B. Ramirez Esperanza Awards 2026, que ocupan un lugar especial en esta edición, nos dejaron precisamente ese mensaje. Yvonne Buhlinger, Ashrei Foundation, Maria Rosario y Martha Castellanos representan diferentes formas de liderazgo y servicio, pero comparten algo fundamental: el compromiso de contribuir a una comunidad más fuerte.

Celebrar estos reconocimientos también significa celebrar la evolución de la comunidad latina de St. Louis. Una comunidad que hoy está presente en los negocios, la educación, la salud, las instituciones, el arte, los deportes y las conversaciones que ayudan a definir el futuro de nuestra región.

Pero crecer también significa estar informados.

Por eso, en estas páginas encontrarán historias que hablan de oportunidades para nuestros jóvenes, de salud y prevención, de inmigración, seguridad, política, emprendimiento, cultura, entretenimiento y deportes. Son temas muy diferentes entre sí, pero todos forman parte de la realidad de las familias que nos leen y de la ciudad que compartimos.

Desde Red Latina continuamos convencidos de que un medio de comunicación en español no solamente debe contar lo que sucede. También debe conectar, orientar, reconocer y crear oportunidades.

Desde hace más de dos décadas hemos acompañado la transformación de nuestra comunidad y, al mismo tiempo, nosotros hemos crecido junto con ella. Cada nueva edición es posible gracias a nuestros lectores, colaboradores, organizaciones, negocios y anunciantes que creen en la importancia de mantener una voz latina fuerte y presente en St. Louis.

Septiembre también nos acerca a una época muy especial para nuestra comunidad: el Mes de la Herencia Hispana. Es una oportunidad para celebrar de dónde venimos, pero sobre todo para mostrar hacia dónde vamos.

Porque nuestra historia no solamente está en nuestras raíces.

También la estamos escribiendo hoy.

Growing Also Means Recognizing How Far We Have Come

We begin September with an edition that, in many ways, invites us to look around and recognize how much our community has grown, while also remembering that this growth does not happen by chance. Behind every organization, business, initiative, and opportunity are people who made the decision to get involved, serve, and open doors for others.

The 2026 Anthony B. Ramirez Esperanza Awards, which hold a special place in this edition, delivered precisely that message. Yvonne Buhlinger, the Ashrei Foundation, Maria Rosario and Martha Castellanos represent different forms of leadership and service, yet they share something fundamental: a commitment to building a stronger community.

Celebrating these recognitions also means celebrating the evolution of St. Louis' Latino community—a community that today has a growing presence in business, education, healthcare, institutions, the arts, sports and the conversations helping shape the future of our region.

But growing also means staying informed.

That is why, throughout these pages, you will find stories about opportunities for our youth, health and prevention, immigration, public safety, politics, entrepreneurship, culture, entertainment, and sports. These subjects may be very different, but each one is part of the reality of the families who read us and the city we all share.

At Red Latina, we still believe Spanish-language media should do more than report what is happening. It should also connect, inform, recognize, and create opportunities.

For more than two decades, we have witnessed the transformation of our community, and we have grown alongside it. Every new edition is possible because of our readers, contributors, organizations, businesses, and advertisers who believe in the importance of maintaining a strong Latino voice and presence in St. Louis.

September also brings us closer to a very special time for our community: Hispanic Heritage Month. It is an opportunity to celebrate where we come from, but above all, to show where we are going.

Because our story does not live only in our roots.
