Last month, police released body-camera footage from the officers. The video shows one officer repeatedly urging the occupants of a car to leave the parking lot, then breaking the rear window with the butt of his weapon. The teens complied and began driving away, at which point another officer arrived running from the opposite direction.

That officer shouted "Stop or I'll shoot!" and almost immediately fired 11 rounds through the vehicle's windshield. Another officer also fired a non-lethal round. The officer who had originally told the teens to leave shouted in an attempt to stop his colleague, approached with one hand raised, and tried to get his attention while the other officers ordered the teenagers out of the car and onto the ground.

Of the ten teenagers riding in the vehicle, one boy and one girl were struck by gunfire, and another teen was injured by broken glass. Following the video's release, Police Chief Juan Cox held a press conference in which he acknowledged that, based on the footage, the officers appeared to be receiving conflicting sets of orders during the incident.
