Missouri Approves Incentives to Transform Vacant Offices into Housing and Revitalize Downtown St. Louis
El gobernador de Missouri, Mike Kehoe, firmó una nueva legislación que crea un programa de incentivos para convertir edificios de oficinas vacíos en complejos residenciales, una iniciativa que busca impulsar la revitalización de los centros urbanos, especialmente el centro de St. Louis, donde la tasa de oficinas desocupadas se encuentra en su nivel más alto en más de dos décadas.
Missouri Gov. Mike Kehoe signed new legislation creating an incentive program to convert vacant office buildings into residential complexes, an initiative that seeks to boost the revitalization of urban centers, especially downtown St. Louis, where the vacant office rate is at its highest level in more than two decades.

Missouri's new Innovation, Public Safety and Accountability Act establishes the creation of innovation districts and allocates $50 million in state tax credits to support the conversion of commercial buildings into housing. The incentives will be able to cover up to 25% of the cost of projects in buildings at least 25 years old, while developments in smaller communities could receive credits of up to 30%.

One of the main projects benefited would be the transformation of the AT&T tower, a 44-story building that has remained empty since 2017, as well as the redevelopment of the historic Railway Exchange building.
