St. Louis County – El Ejecutivo del Condado de St. Louis, Sam Page, anunció hoy que no buscará la reelección cuando concluya su actual mandato en 2027. Page emitió la siguiente declaración:

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, MO – St. Louis County Executive Sam Page announced today that he will not seek re-election when his current term expires in 2027. Page released the following statement:

“Durante los últimos siete años, ha sido el honor de mi vida servirles como su Ejecutivo del Condado. Juntos, hemos reducido el crimen y abierto nuevas comisarías de policía. Protegimos clínicas y servicios de salud para miles de residentes. Reparámos carreteras y mantuvimos nuestros parques accesibles. Y logramos todo esto presentando un presupuesto equilibrado cada año y ofreciendo servicios públicos de clase mundial sin aumentar los impuestos a la propiedad en 40 años.

"For the past seven years, it has been the honor of my life to serve as your County Executive. Together, we have reduced crime and opened new police precincts. We protected healthcare clinics and services for thousands of residents. We fixed roads and kept our parks accessible. And we did all of this while offering a balanced budget each year and providing world-class public services without raising property taxes in 40 years.

He trabajado para servir a la gente del Condado de St. Louis: no a un partido político ni a intereses especiales, sino a ustedes. Hicimos lo correcto, incluso cuando no fue fácil.

I've worked to serve the people of St. Louis County– not a political party, not special interests, but you. We did what was right, even when it wasn't easy.

These days, it takes courage just to do the right thing.

I'm watching what's happening in politics today, and too many leaders have forgotten that courage means standing up for what's right, not what brings them headlines or takes someone else down. Public service means solving real problems, not manufacturing fake ones for clicks and sound bites.

Por eso he tomado una decisión que considero valiente: no postularme para un tercer mandato. En lugar de pasar el próximo año en campaña, voy a dedicar mi último año en el cargo a hacer lo que siempre he hecho: concentrarme plenamente en ustedes y en el trabajo que realmente importa.

So I've made a decision that I believe takes courage: I'm not running for re-election to a third term. Instead of spending next year campaigning, I'm going to spend my last year in office doing what I've always done – focusing completely on you and the work that matters.

I want to ask something of all of you: Don't give up on the idea that doing the right thing still matters. Don't let cynicism win. The world needs more people willing to serve others, to solve problems, to put community ahead of conflict.

Necesitamos más líderes con el valor de decir no al circo y sí al trabajo. Líderes que entiendan que la verdadera fortaleza no consiste en ser la voz más fuerte en la sala, sino en ser la más eficaz.

We need more leaders with the courage to say no to the circus and yes to the work. Leaders who understand that real strength isn't about being the loudest voice in the room – it's about being the most effective.

El servicio público es una labor noble, y también lo es estar presente para la familia. Mi familia ha hecho sacrificios junto a mí durante estos siete años, y cuando este mandato termine, será momento de estar plenamente presente para ellos.

Public service is noble work and so is being present for your family. My family has sacrificed alongside me for seven years, and when this term ends, it's time to be fully present for them.
