The Saint Louis County Pet Adoption Center announced the launch of a new charitable foundation aimed at strengthening support for animals in its care. This initiative represents an important step toward improving resources available to both the shelter and the community.

La nueva organización, Friends of the St. Louis County Animal Shelter Foundation, funcionará como el socio oficial sin fines de lucro del centro de adopción. Su misión es cerrar la brecha entre los fondos públicos y los recursos necesarios para cuidar, proteger y mejorar la vida de los animales que llegan en situación vulnerable.

The new organization, Friends of the St. Louis County Animal Shelter Foundation, will serve as the official nonprofit partner of the adoption center. Its mission is to bridge the gap between public funding and the resources needed to care for, protect, and enhance the lives of animals arriving in vulnerable conditions.

Como primer proyecto, el centro organizará el evento de adopción “Be a Friend; Save a Life, Help Another”, con el objetivo de encontrar hogares amorosos para mascotas, especialmente aquellas que han permanecido más tiempo en el refugio o que suelen pasar desapercibidas.

As its first project, the center will host the “Be a Friend; Save a Life, Help Another” adoption event, aimed at finding loving homes for pets—especially those who have stayed the longest or are often overlooked.

La presidenta de la fundación, Sara Foster, señaló que las estancias prolongadas pueden afectar negativamente a los animales, por lo que este evento busca generar interés en la comunidad y darles una nueva oportunidad de vida.

Foundation President Sara Foster noted that long shelter stays can negatively impact animals, emphasizing that the event aims to spark community interest and give these pets a new chance at life.

El evento se llevará a cabo el sábado 21 y domingo 22 de marzo en el centro ubicado en Olivette. Durante esos días, miembros de la fundación cubrirán las tarifas de adopción para 100 mascotas. Además, se invita a los asistentes a donar alimento para mascotas o realizar contribuciones económicas para apoyar a otros animales y dueños en necesidad.

The event will take place on Saturday, March 21, and Sunday, March 22, at the center in Olivette. During the event, foundation board members will sponsor adoption fees for 100 pets. Attendees are also encouraged to donate pet food or make monetary contributions to support other animals and pet owners in need.
