Al escucharla por primera vez, la nueva canción de Valentina Moretti, "StarStruck", cuenta la historia de una chica que se divierte en un club de la Tierra cuando, de repente, un alien desciende y comienza a buscarla, tratando de llevarla consigo al espacio. La chica, conocida como "Space Val", no está segura de las intenciones del alien y sospecha que no trama nada bueno, pero, al mismo tiempo, está asombrada por la criatura andrógina y brillante y se pregunta cómo se sentiría al dejar la Tierra —otra vez— y embarcarse en otra aventura espacial. El alien está enamorado de ella y le promete salvarla, mientras ella está StarStruck (deslumbrada) por él.

Upon first listen, Valentina Moretti’s new song “StarStruck” tells the story of a girl having fun at a club on Earth when suddenly an alien descends and begins searching for her, trying to take her into space. The girl, known as “Space Val,” isn't sure of the alien's intentions and suspects that he's up to no good, but at the same time she's amazed by the androgynous, glowing creature and wonders what it would feel like to leave Earth—again—and embark on another space adventure. The alien is in love with her and promises to save her, while she is StarStruck by him.

Pero es mucho más que eso. “StarStruck” es una analogía de la vida cotidiana de Valentina como chica trans. De cómo se siente abrumada cuando constantemente le dicen que el camino que ha elegido en la vida —ser trans— es incorrecto y que necesita ser salvada. "StarStruck" también nos cuenta cómo Valentina lucha cuando la gente siente curiosidad por su identidad trans, como si fuera una especie de experimento de laboratorio. Con algunas personas, disfrazando sus intenciones con falso amor, solo para satisfacer su fetiche de estar con una persona trans.

But it’s much more than that. “StarStruck” is an analogy for Valentina's everyday life as a trans girl. It shows how she feels overwhelmed when people constantly tell her that the path she has chosen in life—being trans—is wrong and that she needs to be saved. “StarStruck” also tells us how Valentina struggles when people are curious about her trans identity, as if she were some kind of laboratory experiment. With some people disguising their intentions with false love just to satisfy their fetish of being with a transgender person.
