A 16-year-old has been charged with 12 offenses in connection with what authorities describe as a targeted shooting involving an East St. Louis family that left five people dead and two others seriously injured. St. Clair County prosecutors said the investigation remains active and that a second juvenile is also facing legal proceedings.

Ja’ymier Davis, 16, has been charged with five counts of first-degree murder, along with attempted murder, aggravated battery, dismemberment of a human body, aggravated vehicular hijacking and unlawful possession of a stolen firearm. Authorities said most of the attacks occurred over the weekend at three separate locations in East St. Louis.
