Federal authorities have announced the results of Operation Patriot Shield, a joint public safety initiative that led to the arrest of 224 fugitives wanted for various crimes throughout Missouri and Illinois during the month of June.
El anuncio fue realizado por las Fiscalías Federales y el Servicio de Alguaciles de Estados Unidos (U.S. Marshals Service) para los Distritos Este de Missouri y Sur de Illinois, quienes destacaron la colaboración entre agencias para localizar a personas con órdenes de arresto pendientes.
The announcement was made by the U.S. Attorneys' Offices and the U.S. Marshals Service for the Eastern District of Missouri and the Southern District of Illinois, highlighting the cooperation among law enforcement agencies to locate individuals with outstanding warrants.
Como resultado del operativo, las autoridades lograron ejecutar 290 órdenes de arresto por delitos graves y localizaron además a tres menores de edad reportados como desaparecidos, quienes fueron encontrados con vida.
During the operation, authorities cleared 290 outstanding felony arrest warrants and also located three missing children, who were safely recovered.
El fiscal federal para el Distrito Sur de Illinois, Steven D. Weinhoeft, afirmó que el objetivo del operativo va más allá de realizar arrestos.
Southern District of Illinois U.S. Attorney Steven D. Weinhoeft emphasized that the mission extends beyond making arrests.
«La Operación Patriot Shield va más allá de las detenciones. Se trata de recuperar comunidades seguras: vivir libres de asesinos, tiradores, agresores sexuales y traficantes de drogas», afirmó Weinhoeft.
"Operation Patriot Shield is about more than arrests. It is about reclaiming safe communities — freedom from killers, shooters, sex offenders, and drug dealers," Weinhoeft said.
Las investigaciones también derivaron en 35 acusaciones federales en el Distrito Este de Missouri por delitos relacionados con violencia, narcóticos y armas de fuego.
The investigations also resulted in 35 federal indictments in Missouri involving violent crimes, drug trafficking, and firearm offenses.
En el Distrito Sur de Illinois, otros 11 acusados enfrentan cargos por delitos violentos, incluyendo posesión ilegal de armas, agresiones, narcóticos y explotación sexual infantil.
Meanwhile, prosecutors in Southern Illinois announced 11 additional indictments involving violent crimes, firearms, assault, narcotics, and child sexual exploitation.

Officials said operations like Patriot Shield are part of an ongoing regional strategy to remove dangerous offenders from the streets and improve public safety throughout Missouri and Illinois.
