This year, Thanksgiving arrives with a different flavor. While banquets are being prepared and candles are lit at many tables, in other parts of the world the fire is not symbolic: it is the fire of bombs, of cities in ruins, of hearts wounded by war.
How can we give thanks when the planet seems to be burning? Perhaps the answer lies in understanding that gratitude does not deny pain; it illuminates it. It is the inner flame that

reminds us that, even in the darkness, there is still life. It's not about closing our eyes to tragedy, but about opening our souls to the possibility of hope.
I have learned that giving thanks in times of peace is a beautiful gesture, but giving thanks in times of conflict is an act of resistance. Because when fear dominates the headlines and polarization becomes a universal language, stopping to count your blessings is almost a revolutionary act.
Perhaps this year we cannot change the geopolitical map, but we can change the tone of our conversations, the judgment with which we look at others, the indifference with which we pass by the suffering of others. Every word of compassion, every gesture of empathy, every attempt to understand instead of condemn, is a seed of peace.

Thanksgiving should not be just a date, but a daily practice. Giving thanks not only for what we have, but for what we can still offer. For the possibility of being a beacon in the midst of chaos. For the gift of being able to love, even when the world seems to forget how to do so.
Hopefully this year, amidst the toasts and laughter, we will remember those who have neither a roof over their heads nor a table to share a meal. And may that memory not remain in guilt, but inspire us to share more, to judge less, to build bridges where others erect walls.
This week, close your eyes, join your hands, and offer a prayer for everything around you. Take nothing for granted, give thanks and appreciate every gesture, every detail, every small miracle. That is the best way to honor the beautiful act of giving thanks.
Because authentic gratitude is not measured in abundance, but in awareness.
And when we choose to be grateful even amidst the chaos, we unknowingly become part of the peace the world needs.
