Former St. Louis Mayor Appointed to Missouri State Board of Education
El gobernador de Missouri, Mike Kehoe, nombró al exalcalde de St. Louis, Vincent Schoemehl Jr., como nuevo integrante de la Junta Estatal de Educación de Missouri, organismo responsable de establecer las políticas que rigen el sistema de educación pública de nivel básico y medio superior en el estado.
Missouri Gov. Mike Kehoe has named former St. Louis Mayor Vincent Schoemehl Jr. as a new member of the Missouri State Board of Education, the body responsible for setting the policies governing the state's public elementary and high school education system.
Schoemehl, de 79 años, fue alcalde de St. Louis entre 1981 y 1993, periodo durante el cual impulsó diversos proyectos de desarrollo urbano y reformas administrativas. Tras concluir su
gestión pública, también se desempeñó como presidente y director ejecutivo de Grand Center, Inc., organización dedicada al desarrollo del distrito artístico y cultural de la ciudad, cargo del que se retiró en 2015.
Schoemehl, 79, was mayor of St. Louis from 1981 to 1993, during which time he promoted various urban development projects and administrative reforms. After concluding his public administration, he also served as President and CEO of Grand Center, Inc., an organization dedicated to the development of the city's arts and cultural district, a position from which he retired in 2015.

Along with Schoemehl, the governor also appointed Michael McDonald, a Kansas City-area teacher, to serve on the board. With these additions, the state administration seeks to add experience both in public service and in the educational field.

The Missouri State Board of Education is comprised of eight members and is responsible for overseeing education policies, guiding the operation of the state Department of Education, and supporting the development of Missouri public schools.
