LOUIS – The Sheldon Concert Hall and Galleries se complace en anunciar que ha sido seleccionado como beneficiario de una subvención del National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) a través del programa Celebrating America250: Arts Projects Honoring the National Garden of American Heroes. ST. LOUIS – The Sheldon Concert Hall and Galleries is pleased to announce it is the recipient of a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) for Celebrating America250: Arts Projects Honoring the National Garden of American Heroes. A grant of $25,000 will support Milestones, a series of cultural events celebrating trumpeter and composer Miles Davis.

“As our nation approaches its 250th anniversary, the National Endowment for the Arts is honored to support communities across the country in recognizing the individuals whose contributions have defined our history,” said NEA Senior Advisor Mary Anne Carter. “The Sheldon project in St. Louis plays a significant role in commemorating these heroes’ legacies while affirming the enduring role of the arts in shaping America’s future.”

The Sheldon fue seleccionado de un grupo nacional de solicitantes, siendo una de solo 50 organizaciones en todo el país en recibir esta subvención. Además, es la única organización artística en Missouri que recibe fondos a través de esta iniciativa.

The Sheldon was selected from a national pool of applicants, with only 50 grants awarded nationwide. The arts organization is the only recipient in Missouri to receive funding through this initiative.

Miles Davis is one of the jazz genre’s greatest icons, was an East St. Louis native, and, like our nation, will be celebrating a notable anniversary in 2026: his 100th birthday.”

Milestones Events

The first event supported by the grant is Unlimited Miles: Miles Davis At 100 on Saturday, March 28, at 8 p.m. This tribute to the genius of Miles Davis features a powerhouse ensemble of alumni from various Miles Davis ensembles: John Beasley, Sean Jones, Mark Turner, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Ben Williams, and Terreon Gully. The group reimagines his most iconic works with fresh energy and innovation, honoring his enduring legacy. This extraordinary performance promises to capture the spirit and creativity of Davis’s music, offering audiences a unique and immersive jazz experience. And before the concert, Dr. Gerald Early will give a unique educational presentation on Miles Davis.

La celebración del centenario de Milestones culminará con You’ll Hear It – Live with Peter Martin and Adam Maness: Kind of Blue Listening Party, el martes 28 de abril, a las 7:30 p.m. Los reconocidos pianistas de jazz y podcasters Peter Martin y Adam Maness traerán su aclamada serie a The Sheldon para una rara grabación en vivo frente al público. La velada destacará el álbum emblemático de Miles Davis, Kind of Blue, invitando a los asistentes a escucharlo desde una nueva perspectiva. The Milestones centennial celebration will culminate with You’ll Hear It – Live with Peter Martin and Adam Maness Kind of Blue Listening Party on Tuesday, April 28, at 7:30 p.m. Celebrated jazz pianists and podcasters Martin and Maness bring their acclaimed series to The Sheldon for a rare live recording in front of an audience. The evening spotlights Miles Davis’s landmark album Kind of Blue, inviting listeners to experience it from a fresh perspective. Through lively conversation and musical insight, Martin and Maness unpack what’s happening in the music, share behind-the-scenes context, and connect Davis’s revolutionary work to its lasting influence on jazz today.
