The James S. McDonnell Planetarium officially reopened this weekend following a $2.5 million renovation, becoming one of the largest and most technologically advanced hybrid
planetariums in the United States. The project marks the facility's most significant upgrade in 25 years and further strengthens the Saint Louis Science Center as one of the nation's premier science destinations.
Ubicado en Forest Park desde 1963, el planetario incorporó tecnología de última generación que permitirá ofrecer experiencias inmersivas nunca antes vistas en la región. Entre las principales novedades destaca la instalación del primer proyector híbrido GOTO Chiron III en Estados Unidos, uno de apenas 20 equipos fabricados en todo el mundo.
Located in Forest Park since 1963, the planetarium now features cutting-edge technology designed to deliver immersive experiences unlike anything previously available in the region. The centerpiece of the renovation is the installation of the first GOTO Chiron III Hybrid Star Projector in the United States—one of only 20 ever manufactured worldwide.

The renovation also includes the advanced Cosm Digistar Full-Dome visualization system,

During the reopening ceremony, Saint Louis Science Center President and CEO Dr. Ray Vandiver said the McDonnell Planetarium has inspired millions of visitors for more than six
decades. He noted that the new technology will allow future generations to experience space exploration in a far more interactive and engaging way.
